My Experience

I’ve written speeches for CEOs and prepared them to deliver with warmth, wit, and confidence. I’ve helped senior executives navigate challenging discussions with their Boards. And I’ve shown teams of technical experts how to make sure their ideas are heard by the people who can turn those ideas into reality. The brief is always different, but the successful outcome is always the same: harnessing the power of clear, purposeful communication to drive business results.

I work with my clients in many different ways to bring this idea to life. Here are three examples:

Calling All Candidates:
Getting the job posting right to attract the best talent.

“The ideal candidate will be a motivated team player and a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work unsupervised, and the desire to challenge themselves in a fast-paced, innovative, industry-leading technology company.”

Of course they will. But my client, the head of a 250-person recruiting team, woke up one day and realized that this sort of language wasn’t helping them find and retain the best people. So together we came up with a more engaging, personal, and genuine way to describe the kind of people they were looking for.

The result? A quicker path to a signed offer, the right people in the right roles, better retention, and a stronger organization.

The Art of Moderation:
Making sure the message gets out at the AGM.

Every year at my client’s AGM, the presentations set the stage. But it’s the panel discussion that everyone looks forward to, because this is where the prepared decks end and the real conversation begins.

As the panel moderator, my client’s challenge was keeping the discussion crisp and focused while allowing a natural conversation to unfold. Trying to control the discussion felt unnatural, while simply letting it flow risked missing this critical opportunity to reinforce key messages.

We created a message map, and that allowed us to ensure that the panelists shared the fund’s key messages — and that they did it in their own words, remaining natural, fluid, and engaging.

Training the Virtual Trainers:
Bringing energy and engagement to online training.

What happened to my training team? That’s what my client, the leader of a seasoned group of internal trainers and facilitators, wanted to know. These were dedicated professionals who, pre-pandemic, consistently garnered rave reviews for their work in the classroom.

But now, forced to transition to online program delivery, something had been lost in translation. The reviews were poor and attendance was down. Was this simply the unfortunate reality of online training?

No, it wasn’t. And yes, we fixed it. How? We stepped back, saw past the technology, and brought life back to online learning by focusing on what had always made this team so successful: their genuine commitment to their learners.

Now I’m intrigued. And I’d like to talk to you about how you can help me.

I often make the mistake of thinking that something that is obvious to me is just as obvious to everyone else.
